Gotta Love A Mug

Blessed Is The Man – Tree Christian Coffee Mug – Psalm 1:1-3

Am I the only one out there whose coffee is very important to them?  I wasn’t always a coffee-drinker.  In fact, my mother makes a point of telling everyone that I just started drinking coffee at 50!  About the same time that my husband quit, come to think of it.  I think there had to be someone in our home caffeinated at all times.

I also am particular about the coffee cups I use.  I’ve always had a special place in my heart for a MUG.  A BIG mug.  Not too big, though.  I want to hold something that I can really wrap my HANDS around.  Not just hold in my dainty fingers, with my pinky up.  (There’s a time for that, too.)  But, when I’m drinking my coffee, especially my morning coffee, I want to hold it, and breathe it, and close my eyes and …EXPERIENCE IT!  What about you? Do you gotta have your coffee in the morning?

I think that’s the way God wants us to feel about His Word…like we want to climb inside and absorb it through our pores.  Have it coming out of us all day, like an aroma.  Like the effect coffee has on us.  Like the “gotta have it, can’t get through the day without it, I’m gonna stop somewhere and get it if I didn’t get some before I left home this morning” kind of obsession. I think that’s what He means when He says, “Delight in the law of the Lord.” Psalm 1:1-3
What do you think?

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,
nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD;
and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
that bringeth forth his fruit in his season;
his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
Psalm 1:1-3

  1. I'm sure, by the way, Cara, that I've done that many, many times–it's hard to keep up with where you've been, isn't it?

  2. Sounds delicious, Sharon! I'll be over in the morning:) For years and years my husband drank the Int'l Coffees orange capuccino, but it became harder and harder to find, and then expensive. I remember seeing “recipes” for making your own, but I don't remember if he or I tried that. He still has his flavored drinks, but not regular coffee. He works for a company that was bought out by a Danish firm, and they make the coffee STRONG!! So, that's when he started diluting it and cutting back more and more and then pretty much quit! Because of my sensitivities to artifical flavors, I have to be careful (although I have dared to fall in love with Dunn Bros. Mocha Ice Crema with mint, and occasionally whipped cream! Love it! But not too often:) I definitely do the coffee thing for the caffeine! lol

  3. Hey, Kela girl! Good to see you! I hope your husband loves it! And you're so welcome–oh, yes, I just try to think ahead to what my friends are going to want and provide it for them:) lol
    This, seriously, is one of my favorite (set of) verses!
    Good! You clicked and figured it out–great! Thanks, Kela!

  4. Dear Wendy,

    YES!! I have to have my coffee in the morning! Interestingly enough, I didn't start drinking coffee until I was 45. I think the old body starting needing that caffeine to keep up with living!!

    I make a “concoction” in the morning. Some coffee mixed with some powdered instant cappucino mix – it comes in several different flavors – Banana Nut, Pumpkin Spice, Almond Amaretto, etc – so I really do drink the “flavor of the day!!”

    OH, I mix all this up in a plastic container made for protein drinks! YUP – I don't even mess around with “mugs” – I drink my coffee by the quart!! LOL!

    xoxo to u!

  5. I love a mug too! I have like 5 favorites.
    The pic of the mug you have would be a perfect gift for my husband.
    I LOVE to hear him just quote it! Can you tell me where to find it?

    Thanks bunches!
